Laser Hair Removal Atlanta

What is Laser Hair Removal?

It is a treatment of the hair follicle with a laser device which targets the pigment in the hair traveling down into “root” of the hair disrupting its ability to grow. Hair grows in 3 groups in 3 cycles – an active growing phase, a transient growing phase and a resting phase. The cycles are 28 days long, and in order to deliver an effective treatment, it must be performed on the hair in the active growing phase. In order to “catch” each group in the active growing phase takes 3 treatments.

As you may have discovered, hair can be tenacious – growing when and where you don’t want it to and not growing where you do want it to! Therefore it takes several treatments to eradicate the hair in the treatment area. At least 6 treatments are necessary for most people, but more may be required. Light brown hair, blonde hair, gray and white hair has usually do not respond to the laser hair removal process.

The FDA approved terminology for Laser Hair Removal is Permanent Hair Reduction with an 80-90% reduction expected. The laser process does weaken the hair that is not completely eradicated and remaining hair tends to be very fine, sparse, and light in color. Any remaining hair can be treated with Electrolysis which will permanently remove hair.
However, with all this said, the results from Laser Hair Removal are very satisfying and freeing.
